Instructions to the Justices of the Peace for Collecting the Chimney money.
Hearth money; Justices of the Peace
Copy of a set of seven instructions for justices of the peace in collecting hearth money promulgated in London in 1685. Received in January 1686. This document possibly once bound as part of Phillipps MS 24,523.
Middle Hill green boards (i.e. those used by Sir Thomas Phillipps) with title in pencil reading "Sir Robert Southwell Ireland" and the number "410". The Phillipps number 24,523 also appears in pencil. These likely formerly enclosed folders 1-14 of the present collection.
Copy of an order related to the collection of hearth money in County Cork dated 1665
Later copy of an order signed by John Bysse relating to the collection of hearth money. Note on copy states that it was taken from Book F, folio 115 in the Pipe Office. Glossed (perhaps by Edward Southwell) as being an order from the time of his father being sheriff. This document possibly once bound as part of Phillipps MS 24,523.
