In this letter, Caesar Rodney writes to his brother Thomas about his "disorder," which he and his doctor thought to be lessening. Caesar also mentions the rigorous British campaign against America. Caesar sees American independence as imminent. Included is an engraving of Caesar Rodney by H. B. Hall from a drawing in the collection of Dr. T. A. Emmet. On the back of this drawing is a brief printed article from The University of Pennsylvania's Evening Bulletin, regarding a potential monument erected to Rodney's memory. Also included is an engraving of Rodney's residence in Poplar Grove, Delaware.

Notes:
At this time, Caesar Rodney was serving in Congress in Philadelphia. He was very ill and near the end of his life. Thomas Rodney was his younger brother, also a statesman.
