Notes:
A view of a rock-strewn valley and, in the distance, a group of Arabs in a field. In the far background, there is a village.; The photograph is in a book with a typed description in French and English. The English translation: "This village which is given in a panoramic view is close to Neby-Samouil (the ancient Gibeon). It is 7 Roman miles or about 10 kilometres distant from Jerusalem. Some authors identify Beit-Sourik with the ancient Beeroth of the Scriptures, one of the four cities of the Gibeonites who deceived Joshua and saved their lives. This village is on the most direct road between Jerusalem and Nicopolis, and 7 miles away as indicated by Eusebius of Caesarea in the Onomasticon. The summit to the left is where Gibeon is supposed to have stood." The initials "B+P SC" are printed at the bottom left of the photograph and a small "30*" is printed at the lower right of the page.; The photograph was not catalogued by Lazard--it was catalogued at LKCAJS.; Condition: Good
