Shakespeare, William (1564-1616) (author)

Play: King Henry VI, Part 3; Notes about Charles Gauthier Playter: Collaborated with Boydell on Shakespeare Gallery.; Notes about James Northcote: Collaborated with Boydell on Shakespeare Gallery.; Published Septr. 29. 1796, by J. & J. BOYDELL, at the Shakspeare Gallery, Pall Mall; & at No. 90, Cheapside, London.; Painted by J. Northcote, R. A.; Engraved by G. C. Playter. Finished by Thos. Ryder.; Engraver's initials--G.C. (Playter)--are actually the reverse of Playter's first and middle name: Charles Gauthier Playter. Since, according to standard sources, Charles Gauthier Playter collaborated with Boydell on the Shakespeare Gallery and no other G.C. Playter seems to exist, it is very reasonable to assume that Charles Playter is the engraver cited here.
