Black-and-white photographic prints depicting a diverse group of Philadelphia students from elementary school to high school graduation. Prints feature portraits and candid photographs of people and activities at schools across the city, including afterschool, art, computer education, literacy, music, and science programs. Some science programs were supported by the Academy of Natural Sciences and other educational initiatives including the People's Emergency Center. Prints also feature Kensington High School's 1998 graduation, a student protest the prison system, and better education programs. Harvey Finkle (born March 28, 1934) is a self-taught documentary still photographer and photojournalist who has documented social, economic, cultural, and political issues across the city of Philadelphia, the United States, and the world. Finkle's work largely focuses on activism relating to historically underrepresented communities, including people living on low income, unhoused/unsheltered/houseless people/people experiencing homelessness, refugees, immigrants, and disabled people.
