Fourth section of Tulasīdāsa's retelling of the Rāmāyaṇa; describes the encounter between the heroes Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa and the monkeys lead by King Sugrīva; his general Hanuman forms a special bond with Rāma, having recognized him as an incarnation of Viṣṇu; Rāma helps Sugrīva defeat his brother and the king of the monkeys sends his armies of monkeys and bears to help re-capture Rāma's wife Sītā; contains the account of Hanuman's leap across the ocean.
