An oblong, leather-bound volume containing receipts of payment to various people and companies in Philadelphia spanning one year from 1812 to 1813. The handwritten receipts are signed by the vendor or person. Recorded in the volume are some payments to Jewish merchants and businesses such as, Isaac Jacob Levy and Jacob Mayer for Montmollin and Moses auctioneers. Other payees include Hallowell & Satterthwaite, Joseph Lippincott, and Passmore & Sperry. Payments were made for barrels of brandy, rum, vinegar, apple whiskey, and rye whiskey; quantities of flour, oil, mackerel, salt, and shad. One receipt is pasted in the volume. The receipts in the volume are written parallel to the spine in the manner of a note pad. leaves have been cut out from the beginning and end of the volume. On front cover: Receipt book.
