Title handwritten on copy 2.; Photograph of a room in Joseph Priestley's house in Northumberland, PA. Includes a painting of Priestley, either by or after Gilbert Stuart. See P/P933.5B M for a reproduction of the same painting, or at least a very similar one. On the table in the foreground are glass jars such as Priestley used in his experiments, as well as books on chemistry, perhaps Priestley's own works. The book open on the right is probably an early edition of Priestley's The History and Present State of Electricity, with Original Experiments (London: J. Dodsley, 1767).
