Literatura de la lengua maya.

Abstract:
Notebook containing an unfinished version of a bibliography on the Maya language compiled by, and in the hand of C. Hermann Berendt. This manuscript appears to have been intended to be a revised and cleanly written version of the draft bibliography found in Ms. Coll. 700, Item 234. Author entries are one or two pages long, including biographical notes followed by a list of works. The order of entries is roughly chronological, beginning with authors who lived in the 16th century; anonymous works are listed separately at the back (p. 73-76). Berendt includes himself as the last named author (p. 71), with a brief autobiographical summary and a list of two publications, in 1869 and 1871. An alphabetical index of author names at the back (p. 101-102), contains 53 names, with only a handful of page numbers filled in. Berendt entered content in the entries for a total of 10 authors: Luis de Villalpando; Diego de Landa; Alonso de la Solana; Francisco Torralva; Frédéric de Waldeck (only his place and date of birth); B. M. Norman; Henri Ternaux; Mr. Tromback of Belize; Francisco Pimentel, conde de Heras; and Berendt himself. On many pages a name heading is written, or the last name noted lightly in pencil, without any at the top of the intended page. The following loose items that were laid in are housed in a separate folder shelved with the manuscript: a clipping in German about the 100th birthday of Frédéric de Waldeck (N. Y. Belletristisches Journal, 25 April 1873); a strip of small clippings in French of book notices from a publication of Maisonneuve & cie, dated by hand 1876, with handwritten notations, mainly highlighting works of León de Rosny; a handwritten list of some of the same references on Rosny, the latest dated 1876; and a sheet of notes, perhaps pertaining to Diego de Landa, containing references to years in the 16th century, under the heading: Landa.
