Photographer's note: Leon Bass, as a member of the 183rd Engineer Combat Battalion (an all Black unit with white officers), was present at the liberation of Buchenwald in 1945. Dr. Bass presently lectures on the evils of racism as he experienced it first hand. More about Leon Bass can be found at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leon_Bass. Dr. Bass studied at Temple University where he received his Doctorate.
