Legal brief written Feb. 7, 1538 (dated Feb. 7, 1537 in manuscript), by Matteo d'Alessandro d'Andrea Todeschini Piccolomini in support of a claim to the estate of Giovanni Piccolomini, the late cardinal and archbishop of Siena, and his brother Alessandro Piccolomini. Matteo's cousin Antonio Maria d'Enea Piccolomini, of the Montemarciano branch of the Piccolomini family, recognizes here the legitimacy of Matteo, who was legitimized by Emperor Charles V, despite having been born out of wedlock.
