Inscription on Mary Priestley's tombstone: In Memory of Mary, the Wife of D.r J. Priestley, who died Sept.r 11 1796 in the 55.th Year of her age. God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes: and there shall be no more death, neither shall [there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.] The passage in brackets is in the photograph itself obscured by grass, but can be reconstructed from Revelation 21:4 (the King James translation), from which this passage is adapted. Inscription on Joseph Priestley's tombstone: To the memory of the Rev.d D.r Joseph Priestley who departed this life on the 6.th Feb.y 1804 Anno Etatis LXXI. Return unto thy rest O my soul for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee. I will lay me down in peace & sleep till I awake in the morning of the resurrection. Inscription on Henry Priestley's tombstone: In Memory of Henry Priestley Son of Dr. J. Priestley who died Dec.r 11 1795 aged 18 Years. The dead shall be raised incorruptible. 1Cor.
