A piece of the Madaba mosaic map showing Egypt and the mouth of the Nile.; The photograph is in a book with a typed description in French and English. The French description: "Le Basse-Egypte et les bouches du Nil avec les montagnes du Sinaï à l'Est. Le bras le plus oriental du fleuve est désigné par le nom de Pélusiaque. Le bras principal, nommé Sébennitique, se subdivise en trois: la branche saïtique, entre Thennisos et Saïs; la branche bucolique, à gauche de la ville de Xoïs; la branche bolbitique, à droite de Xoïs. Au delà, on lit les noms de Hermoupolis, Chortaso, Coenoupolis, etc." The English description: "Lower Egypt and the mouths of the Nile with the mountains of Sinai to the East. The most eastern arm of the river bears the name Pelusiac. The principal arm, the Sebennytic, is divided into three branches: the Saitic branch between Thennisos and Sais; the Bucoline branch, to the left of the town of Xois; the Bolbitine, to the right of Xois. Beyond, we read the names Hermoupolis, Chortaso, Coenoupolis, etc." The initials "B+P" are printed in the upper right corner.; The photograph was not catalogued by Lazard--it was catalogued at LKCAJS.; Condition: Good
