A picket fence surrounds a large tree and there is a wall in the background.; The photograph is in a book with a typed description. The description: "(Matthew, ii: 13-15.)--Out about six miles from Cairo, and in the suburbs of the ancient city of On, where Moses was educated, is the village of Matariyeh, where Mary and Joseph with the infant Jesus spent the time of the sojourn in Egypt. There is an old tree here, enclosed, as you see in the picture, that is said to be the identical tree under which the holy family rested. Nearly all tourists who go to Egypt make a pilgrimage to Matariyeh. Near this place was the Temple of the Sun, where Potiphera, the father-in-law of Joseph, acted as priest, and here Joseph and Asenath, his wife, lived. The holy family could have spent the time of the sojourn in Egypt at no more fitting place than in the neighborhood where Joseph and Moses lived."
