Letter from 'Alim Beg updating G.G. Ducarel on Business Interests

Name:
Gerard Gustavus Ducarel
Date:
1784
Description:
This is a letter written by one of Elizabeth Sharaf un-Nisa's brothers, 'Alim Beg, expressing that he misses his sister and her children, and updating G.G. Ducarel on the brothers' business interests. Early on in the letter he states "the light of the eyes (probably one of the children) and the honored sister are missed by her brothers and the honored mother." Envelope with Alim Beg’s seal, addressed to Mr. Ducarel in Persian, with all of his epithets. It looks like the date says 1191 Banglah which would make this a letter from 1784. Persian letter on burnished paper. The letter begins on the left hand column halfway down the page; the letter should then be rotated 180 degrees, since the letter continues upside down at a slant in the second column. Shikasta Persian script.
