Manuscript is used for contemplation, study, and recitation, and is a late Vedic, quasi-philosophical work reflecting on the nature of the self in the realm of ultimate existence through the lens of a narrative about the adventures of the ancient sage Bhṛgu and his encounter and dialogue with his father Varuṇa, who equates the ultimate principle in the universe, the brahman, with food.
