This part has no title page but has seven pages of letterpress explanations. Plate 2 is dated 1693.; Martin Lister devoted his life to the compilation of the first organized, systematic publication on shells, creating a work that represented a landmark in the way scientists thought about natural history. The work was illustrated with 1062 plates of shells, the work of Lister's two daughters, Anna and Susanna.; Peachey Collection copy presented to the Penn Libraries in 2015 by Lee Peachey.; Peachey Collection copy has 34 leaves of handwritten notes at end (and notes elsewhere in the book) by the former owner Dr. E. Le Cronier Lancaster.
