Description:
Praise of the sacred Hindu pilgrimage center of Vārāṇasī (Kāśī) in 26 chapters (adhyāya) and elevates the Hindu deity Śiva above other gods such as Brahmā and Viṣṇu. Text aligns itself with the essence of the Vedas and even personifies them as a figure named Vedadharama who engages in conversation with other deities such as Brahmā. Contains a discussion of the cosmic cycles and the structure of the universe. Worship of Śiva's emblem the liṅga is promoted and contains myths and references to the Abode of Śiva (śivālaya).
