Description:
A bound collection of ten originally separate documents concerning Chiapas, Mexico, particularly the pueblo of Chiapa de la Real Corona (now Chiapa de Corzo). Many of the documents are associated with visits by church or governmental officials, often from neighboring Guatemala, and refer to the Indians, mestizos, and blacks of the region, with a few marginal annotations highlighting these references. Many of the documents have notarial signatures and one has remnants of the Spanish royal seal (f. 51r).
