Inscription on Mary Priestley's tombstone: In Memory of Mary, the Wife of D.r J. Priestley, who died Sept.r 11 1796 in the 55.th Year of her age. God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes: and there shall be no more death, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. Inscription on Joseph Priestley's tombstone: To the memory of the Rev.d D.r Joseph Priestley who departed this life on the 6.th Feb.y 1804 Anno Etatis LXXI. Return unto thy rest O my soul for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee. I will lay me down in peace & sleep till I awake in the morning of the resurrection.
