Photographer's note: The Antakaya synagogue had an active and observant congregation which included several generations. Their well maintained synagogue was at the center of the Jewish Life of Antakaya. When we first visited Antakaya in 1985 there were still some 250 Jews living there. In 2010 we found just 50 Jews left. Many had gone to Israel or US. Antakaya close to the Syrian border now has many refugess from that country.
