The Jordan River.; The photograph is in a book with a typed description. The description: "(Joshua iii: 14, 16)--'And it came to pass, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Jordan, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people...that the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon a heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan; and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were cut off: and the people passed over right against Jericho.' In the above picture we have a view of the ford of the river Jordan where the children of Israel passed over. It conforms to the requirements. It is right against Jericho, and is known as the ford of the river Jordan. In this picture we are looking down the river. The mountains we see in the distance are the Judean mountains. This is but a little distance, about 100 yards, from the place where Christ was baptized." The copyright year and photographer's name are printed at the bottom of the photograph, along with "Franklin Co Eng-Chi."
