Recites a brief history of the school beginning with the subscriptions of “several benevolent and charitable persons” for “erecting, establishing, and maintaining an academy…as well to instruct youth for reward, as poor children whose indigent and helpless circumstances demand the charity of the opulent part of mankind.” Signed by James Hamilton, Lieutenant-Governor, as witness.
