Letter from one of Sharaf un-Nisa's brothers (unsigned) to John Shore, Sharaf un-Nisa, and G.G. Ducarel
Name:
Gerard Gustavus Ducarel; Sharaf un-Nisa; John Shore
Description:
Persian letter from one of Sharaf un-Nisa's brothers, addressed to G. G. Ducarel on behalf of the three brothers, with some brief notes addressed to their sister and her children as well as another man whose name is illegible. There is a brief note that their mother conveys her greetings. The letter details the brothers' grievances since the departure of Ducarel and Sharaf un-Nisa. They say that promises made to them were not kept, as the people in India in charge of distributing their promised income and land have not fulfilled their duties. The brothers claim they are approaching death and implore Ducarel to get in touch with his contacts in India to sort out these "shames, a hundred shames".
