Notes:
A valley with several small hills.; The photograph is in a book with a typed description in French and English. The English translation: "There are several roads leading down from the heights of Judea to the rich plain which lees[sic] between the mountains and the sea. The oldest and most direct seems to be the one passing by Gibeon, Beeroth, Kariat-Baal or Kariat-Yearim and Kaphira. This caused the Philistines to declare war upon these four towns when they submitted to Joshua. The panorama of the country given here is taken from Djebel Ald-er-Rahman : the supposed site of Kariath-Baal. The highest point in the centre is the site of Gibeon (Neby-Samouil), to the right, among the olive trees is Beeroth (Beit-Sourik). The extreme point on the horizon, to the right, is the mount of Olives." The initials "B+P" are printed at the bottom right corner.; The photograph was not catalogued by Lazard--it was catalogued at LKCAJS.; Condition: Good
