Extra-illustrated second revised edition of J. G. Rosengarten's The German soldier in the wars of the United States (Philadelphia: Lippincott, 1890). The volume contains a total of 16 original documents dated 1769 to 1893 and 84 printed portraits, maps, and illustrations. The original documents include several manuscript letters including one from Drederick Haldimand to Thomas Willing dated September 14, 1774 about growing divisions in American society. The volume was crafted by Philadelphia binder Walter H. Barr and there are a series of newspaper clippings dated 1893 discussing Barr's creation of this extra-illustrated production.
