Play: King John; Notes about James Edward Murdoch: Born in Philadelphia, Murdoch began his career at the Arch Street Theatre in 1829. Performed comic and tragic roles and played at a number of theatres throughout the United States as well as in England. Murdoch also gave lectures on "The Uses and Abuses of the Stage.".; Anon.; Two copies. Entered according to act of Congress, AD. 1859, by Johnson, Fry & Co. in the clerk's office of the district court of the southern district of New York. Information regarding painter and engraver is derived from Lillian Hall's "Catalogue of Engraved Dramatic Portraits in the Theatre Collection of the Harvard College Library (Harvard Univ.
