The description: "(Numbers, xix:3.)--'And ye shall give her unto Eleazer the priest, that he may bring her forth without the camp, and one shall slay her before his face.' The bodies of those animals offered for the sin of the congregation were burnt outside the camp, teaching that sin had no proper place in the city of God. In accordance with this view our Lord suffered without the gate. 'Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.
